Cartiera Partenope

Corso D'Amato, 1 , Arzano , Naples, Italy | Paper Recycling

Separate collection has always been the main activity of the Serrao family and in particular of the progenitor Umberto who, at the dawn of the 20th century, saw a strong entrepreneurial development in this type of activity since the consumption of paper grew exponentially. that the well-being of the population was growing, especially at the end of the Second World War.

Towards the end of the 40s, the changed social conditions pushed his son Giovanni to build a real collection center which in a short time became a point of reference for the first industries of the Campania region for the disposal of their paper waste.

These were the first moves of the current Ecocart company: a platform today of the highest technological level for the treatment of paper waste and which ranks among the first centers in Italy for this important social and economic function.

The distance from paper recycling centers and paper mills, for the most part located in Tuscany, prompted Giovanni and his sons Umberto, Gaetano and Ciro at the end of the seventies to take up a huge opportunity and at the same time a challenge: the construction of a paper mill in Arzano which will be the first and still today the only one in the province of Naples.

In 1981 the start-up of the PM1 paper machine was launched, designed to produce recycled mono-glazed paper for packaging, which was immediately rewarded by the market for its quality, allowing the paper mill to become a reference point in the sector.

Over the years the company, with a view to diversification, as the market for tissue produced with waste paper, offered good development prospects, in 2000 it installed a new continuous machine, the PM2 for the production of paper for use. domestic and sanitary: the start-up of the new plant took place in May 2001.

The high quality tissue produced with waste paper soon became a highly sought after product on the market, as opposed to those of the competition made with virgin fibers of pure cellulose pulp.

Once again, the decision to focus on the production of recycled paper proved to be the winning weapon of the company strategy.

In 2013 PM1 was revamped by converting the production of Yankee paper into tissue paper for domestic use.

Today Cartiera Partenope SPA is a solid industrial reality that has contributed to the creation of a paper center consisting of top-level companies in the processing sector.

It is estimated that the related activities amount to 300 million euros.

The company while remaining faithful to its traditions is characterized by a great push towards the future, always looking for new technological-plant solutions that can confirm it among the leading companies in southern Italy.
