Glasrecycling Nord

Stader Strasse 55-63 , Wischhafen, Lower Saxony, Germany | Glass/Fiberglass Recycling

In the facility of Glasrecycling Nord GmbH & Co. KG (GRN) in Wahlstedt, waste glass from Schleswig-Holstein, parts of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and northern Lower Saxony is processed. That is around 70,000 tons of waste glass annually. The location in the center of Schleswig-Holstein offers the best conditions for excellent disposal logistics due to its favorable transport connections. The waste glass, which is processed into granulate in the processing plant, is then made available to the glassworks as a valuable raw material.

With old glass recycling valuable resources can be saved, because packaging glass can be almost completely recycled. The glassworks place high quality demands on the glass granulate supplied by the processing plants. This is why it is particularly important to separate according to color when throwing in the glass packaging. In addition, no ceramic, stone or porcelain may be thrown into the container. They contaminate the glass granulate and increase the sorting effort considerably. Even tiny inclusions can make new glass prone to breakage.
