Águas e Resíduos da Madeira

ARM - Águas e Resíduos da Madeira, SA is a company with exclusively public capital engaged in the exploration and management of the multi-municipal water and waste system in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, as well as the design and construction of infrastructure and equipment necessary for its full implementation, granted on a public service and exclusivity basis.

ARM manages waste from the Region, namely the Waste Transfer, Sorting, Treatment and Recovery System of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

This integrated waste management system has four facilities, located in the municipalities of Ribeira Brava, Santa Cruz and Porto Santo.

Waste is any substance or object that the holder discards, or intends or is required to discard. Waste classification is carried out according to its origin and/or physical, chemical and biological characteristics.

Technological advances have resulted in the adoption of increasingly advanced equipment to treat waste, which consequently has allowed – bearing in mind the specifications of each system – to opt for recovery processes over final disposal.
