Warter Cardboard

Tarnówka Branch, ul. Tarnowski mill 2a , TARNÓWKA, Kuyavia-Pomerania, Poland | Paper Recycling

Our mill in Tarnówka produces greyboard and recycled paper. The mill has its own wastewater treatment plant and a hydroelectric plant, which covers a significant percentage of the factory’s demand for electricity. Warter has received certificates confirming high quality products and lack of dangerous substances in them.

The original name of the factory comes from the name of an old mill built in the 18th century, Tarnowski MÅ‚yn (Tarnowskie Muhle). However, no information has survived as to whether it contained ground grain or paper pulp. According to German chronicles, the construction of the plant began in 1914 by setting up a FRANCISA water turbine (the assumptions for this construction date back to 1908) and building a dam on the Gwda River.
The first owner of the factory, Otto KUHNEMANUS, in his investment assumptions, foresaw, in the first place, the launch of the production of wood pulp from pine pulp, which took place in 1918, and the launch of a cardboard machine for the production of brown cardboard from wood pulp with the addition of about 20% of waste paper. Production on an industrial scale was launched in 1920. Until January 1945, the factory freely produced its products in the form of various types of cardboard. In the final phase of World War II, during the liberation of the territory by the Polish Army, in February 1945, the factory was burnt down as a result of hostilities.
