Keski-Savo Jätehuolto, a consortium of municipal enterprises, is a waste management company owned by five municipalities. The owners of the group are the municipalities of Heinävesi, Joroinen, Juva and Leppävirta and the city of Varkaus. The Group provides its owners with statutory waste management services and regulatory functions. Approximately 50,000 permanent residents live in the waste management area.

Keski-Savon Jätehuolto is responsible for the collection of mixed waste from residential and leisure properties and public administration in its owner municipalities, for tendering the collection and for the treatment of the collected waste. Waste management is also responsible for property-specific collection of recyclable waste, with the exception of collection paper.

The Group maintains and develops the operations of the Riiginneva Waste Center and organizes free hazardous waste collection points for households in its owner municipalities. In addition, Keski-Savon Jätehuolto, together with its owner municipalities, agrees on local waste management services for households and co-operates between different actors. These include, for example, waste reception operations at municipal depots or workshops, circulating collection orders and free reception of household medical waste through contract pharmacies in the area. Keski-Savon Jätehuolto also handles waste invoicing, customer service and waste advice in its area of ​​operation.
