Recycling is a particularly important process in preserving the integrity of the ecosystem on which we depend. It involves the separation of materials from waste and their reuse. The recycling process includes the collection, separation, processing and production of new products from already used materials. Recycling includes all products that can be reused as raw materials for new products. Recyclable materials include many types of paper, metal, plastic and electronics. Without introducing recycling into everyday life, it is impossible to imagine any comprehensive waste management system. Waste processing (recycling) is the reuse of old materials in new products, with the aim of reducing the use of fresh raw materials and energy use.     Recycling reduces the amount of waste in landfills and the cost of its disposal, but also the need to clear additional areas for new landfills. Recycling reduces the release of harmful gases and leachate in landfills that cause air and water pollution. In Serbia, 97% of waste is in landfills, which is the least economical and environmentally justified option for waste management.
