Material Recovery Facility

Nortech Waste began collaborating with Western Placer Waste Management Authority (WPWMA) since 1994 to design, build and operate a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). The goal was to assist the members of the WPWMA Joint Powers Authority (JPA), Placer County, Lincoln, Roseville and Rocklin, with achieving state mandated waste diversion goals while achieving an economy of scale for material diversion and uniformity in waste diversion and recycling programs. The MRF was designed and is operated to:

• recover recyclable materials from mixed waste
• process source separated green wastes for composting, recycled wood waste is converted to colored wood chips or biomass
• receive and process source-separated recyclables
• provide receipt and recycling/disposal of House Hold Hazardous Waste.

Materials not recovered through MRF processing are disposed of in the Western Regional Sanitary Landfill.
