History

Giotta Fausto sensed the potential contained in what was called processing waste. A precursor in giving importance to recovery, both from an economic point of view and from a waste reduction point of view, he immediately understood the incredible opportunities that this sector could offer. The concept of circular economy was not yet a topical issue, but the path taken by Fausto was the one headed in the right direction.

Starting from a small junkyard business on the outskirts of Sondrio managed by his uncle, Fausto Giotta decided to follow his intuition and buy his own warehouse in Castione Andevenno.

The core business of the activity was immediately the collection of metal waste deriving from the processing of the main metalworking companies in Valtellina.

The availability of a considerable fleet of vehicles allowed Giotta Fausto to soon become a point of reference in this field.

The collected materials, mainly metals, were separated, cleaned and cut with the help of equipment and machinery, such as the shear press, which at the time were considered revolutionary for recycling. They were then sent to steel mills for smelting and processing into raw materials.

Over the years, the fleet has kept up with the times, and the activities of metal waste recovery and self-demolition have been accompanied by the management of other types of waste and the demolition of industrial structures.

The company today

All this led Fausto to decide to involve his children in the management of the company.

Thus it was that Gabriele, Giordano and Ornella began their long experience in the field, acquiring the necessary skills to transform the sole proprietorship into the current Giotta Srl in 2001.

These were the years in which environmental legislation began its evolution, which over time would become increasingly rapid and complex. It is in this period that the company started the collaboration with local authorities and the National Register of Environmental Managers for the acquisition of all the authorizations necessary for the continuation of its activities.
