AMIU S.p.A. Taranto

The company now known as 'AMIU SpA Taranto' was established in 1974, with the name of AMNU.

In more than 40 years of activity, undergoing significant changes in the organizational and corporate structure, the company has provided countless services to the city. After the name change, in fact, in 1995 AMIU became a “special company” and on September 16, 2005, with resolution no. 80, the Municipal Council of Taranto approved its transformation into a joint stock company. “

AMIU SpA Taranto” operates in the sector of local public services, and in particular in that of waste cycle management. Among its objectives is the protection of the environment and the territory, for the achievement of which it carries out activities in the field of urban hygiene and decoration, collection, transport and disposal of waste; last but not least and of great relevance, the selection of materials from separate collection, the strengthening of which will make it possible to exploit existing plants more efficiently and to launch an integrated management system in which the delivery of waste to the waste-to-energy plant represents only a residual phase.

“AMIU SpA Taranto” also carries out other activities such as the ordinary maintenance of the municipal assets, having absorbed the activities and workers of the company “Taranto Servizi SpA” in April 2006.
