Our history

The company was founded in Modena in 1964 from the idea of ​​Fanton Arrigo who, together with his family and a pickup truck, launched himself on the market.

The small company immediately imposed itself in the field of collection and recycling of metal processing waste of the nascent and energetic companies in the Modena area. In fact, it was precisely in those years that the entire Geminiano industrial sector enjoyed a period of exciting growth thanks to both the renowned entrepreneurial dynamism of the citizens of Modena and the dizzying economic revolution that involved post-war Europe.

And so, year after year, while the mechanical industry drives the economy of the Province and, in general, of the whole of Emilia Romagna, continuing to conquer ever larger slices of the market, the Fanton Arrigo srl company grows hand in hand, establishing itself increasingly as a very important partner for those same mechanical workshops.

The urgent need to expand was already born in the 1970s, new vehicles and equipment were purchased for material handling and systems for the volumetric reduction of metal scrap. In the same period the company moved to its current location where the metals are, now as then, accumulated, recycled and finally delivered to the Italian foundries and steel mills as a new raw material. During the 80s and 90s the company's growth never stopped, from a family-run business it became an established leader in Emilia Romagna in the marketing of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, continuing to maintain that same position of pre-eminence throughout the world. the region.

The twenty-first century opens with great growth prospects for the Company, during all the first years of the new millennium Fanton Arrigo srl manages to handle over 10,000 tons of material per month , the volume of business is in such unscrupulous growth that the company management has in the process of investing large sums in the expansion of spaces, evaluating a radical upheaval of the corporate structure, but it was precisely in those years that the Global Economic Crisis violently lashed the world industry.

Unexpectedly, and contrary to the fate of the vast majority of companies, the economic crisis does not hit the company hard. Could it be because the Company had already begun to invest in what is now thought to be the future of the economy, namely the Green Economy, in the seventies? Or is it perhaps because the way of treating customers and suppliers is still based on a concept of trust that often leads to friendship? Or maybe because, while a large part of the Italian industry is made up of old staff clinging to old concepts and old preconceptions, Fanton Arrigo srl has invested in a young team, made up of young people, and therefore dynamic and full of new ideas? Or maybe because the Fanton family, from generation to generation, while expanding and enlarging, has always remained united and firmly at the helm of the company? Probably a mixture of these factors, the fact is that Fanton Arrigo srl is progressing despite the severe economic crisis and, after a period of slight decline, today it has returned to reach the heights of the period before the crisis.

The very recent history is marked by the tragic events that involved the province of Modena on the occasion of the earthquake that struck Emilia Romagna. The unpredictable event saw Fanton Arrigo srl as a protagonist in the recycling operations of the materials resulting from the demolitions that were necessary to secure the unsafe structures. Furthermore, the prodigious speed with which the companies in the Modena, Reggio and Bolognese areas resumed their activities, meant that the market downturn suffered by Fanton Arrigo srl as a result of the serious earthquake was very slight and only momentary. Today, in addition to ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, Fanton Arrigo srl deals with the recovery and recycling of wood, paper, packaging in mixed materials, plastic, rubber, exhausted batteries, electric cables and many other types of metal matrix waste, not metallic or composite.

The company is becoming a recycling center for different types of waste, addressing the future of Italian society with a perspective that is entirely aimed at the environment, new technologies and young people.
