CoReVe
P.zza GD Bande Nere, 9 , Milan, Milano, Italy | Glass/Fiberglass Recycling
Who we are
The CoReVe (Glass Recovery Consortium) was established in 1997 following the legislative decree 22/97, integrated with the legislative decree 152/96. Manufacturers and importers, both industrial and commercial, of glass packaging are obliged to join. Starting from 2020, recoverers and recyclers can also join on a voluntary basis and upon agreement with the other consortium members. In turn, it is a member of the National Packaging Consortium (CONAI) .
In the year 2021, 24 hollow glass producers, 40 commercial importers (wholesalers / distributors), 38 industrial importers (fillers) and 7 recoverers join the Consortium.
It operates as a subsidiary to the activities of other economic operators in the sector to incentivize and support the separate collection of glass packaging waste and guarantee the start of recycling of the material transferred.
It has legal personality under private law, is not for profit and is required to ensure the balance of its financial management.
Each year, the Specific Prevention Plan (PSP) must be sent to CONAI and to the Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea, a report on the progress of the separate collection and recycling of glass packaging waste in Italy including also the program of recycling targets for the following three years.
CoReVe pursues its mission through a system of voluntary agreements with the Municipalities, or with their delegates, which envisages, on the basis of the provisions of the ANCI-CONAI Agreement , the payment to the Affiliates of fees, against the emerging costs due to the collection done in a differentiated manner, modulated on the basis of the quality (presence of improper materials) and therefore of the recyclability of the waste delivered.
As of December 31, 2020, the participating municipalities were 7,414 , corresponding to approximately 97% of the Italian population.
Other fundamental tools of the Consortium are communication, promotion and incentives, implemented to urge citizens to behave virtuously, support the overdue areas, encourage single-material collection, direct the operators of the supply chain.
The main sources of CoReVe funding are:
The CONAI environmental contribution (CAC) , the amount of which is established by the Board of Directors of the National Packaging Consortium and which is collected at the time of sale of the packaging by the manufacturer to the user;
The proceeds from the sale, through auctions, of glass packaging waste collected by CoReVe through local agreements.
