Up until the 1960s there was hardly any construction machinery and equipment. Earthmoving was only possible under difficult conditions. Farmers who owned a tractor with a front loader did the earthworks that had to be done, such as excavating basements, digging foundations, etc.

Due to his parents' farm, it also arose, at the end of the 1960s, for Mr. Franz Spring, initially together with his older brother, relatives , Acquaintances, friends and neighbors with the front loader to help out. As demand grew, Mr. Spring bought a John Deere crawler loader. This laid the first cornerstone for the later step towards independence.

Thanks to these initial experiences and the increasing number of orders, Mr. Franz Spring founded the dike digging on September 6, 1973 at the age of just 23 years. At the time, this still required consideration in the trade register, as Mr. Spring had not yet reached the age of 24. The first major order was to help widen the so-called Goasstig between Radlberg and Viehofen. A JCB backhoe loader was purchased for this purpose. As a trained agricultural machinery mechanic, Mr. Spring repaired his construction machines himself in the workshop of his parents' farm.

In the years and decades that followed, the company continued to grow. The trade license for sand and gravel extraction was issued. A quartz sand mine was also acquired. By purchasing a jaw crusher from England in 1988, Mr. Spring put the first construction waste recycling plant in Austria into operation on the new premises in Herzogenburg / Oberndorf in 1990.

The foundation of the company Franz Spring GesmbH. took place, whereby the commercial transport and the transport of foreign goods became possible.

To date, the family company has been owned by the founder, Mr. Franz Spring, who is responsible for it.
