A SUCCESS STORY IN THE THIRD GENERATION

We are a family business in the literal and figurative sense. In the literal sense, because our managing director Josef Gnant is continuing and expanding the work of parents and grandparents. And figuratively, because the more than 160 Gnant employees see themselves as part of a community: They are proud of good, honest work in a very old-fashioned way. Our customers also benefit from this professional ethos: Because our employees are better trained and paid more fairly, they work better and can bring more experience to every project, as they often stay with the company for decades. And that in turn makes our customers happier customers.

1959

Josef and Leopoldine Gnant found 'Gnant Milchtransporte'

1975

Building materials trade as a new line of business

1977/78

Increase in office and workshop

1985

Long-distance traffic, also abroad. Sand and gravel pits are being built in Trasdorf. Dike digging business is registered. Meanwhile 20 workers, 8 excavators, 2 caterpillars and 7 trucks

1986

Christine Gnant gets involved in oil trading and accepts the Austria-wide logistics for ELF lubricants (now Total) additional construction of a warehouse 

1989

Gnant becomes a GmbH 

1993 Josef Sr. and Leopoldine retire Christine takes over the business

1999

Josef Gnant jun. (eldest son of Christine) starts his training in the company

2001

Carriage test, earthwork test

2003

Acquisition of the Zwentendorf gravel pit

2006

Acquisition of the Mitterndorf gravel pit recycling plant Sieghartskirchen is taken over and expanded step by step

2007

Groundbreaking ceremony in Wimmersdorf: Construction of a new company site with warehouses on 10,000 m²

2009

50th anniversary

Josef Gnant receives trade license for master builder (restricted to demolition work)

2010-2013

Expansion and creation of the Diendorf, Hütteldorf and St. Pölten landfills as well as the Zwentendorf gravel pit

Establishment of a company site of 14,000 m² in Einsiedl.

Opening of the “Zum Kosy” snack bar on the company site

2016

Large investment offensive in GPS tracking and control. Opening of Einsiedl rental park. Acquisition of 6 new Mercedes trucks 

2017

Acquisition quarry Gfoehl and gravel plant Stratzing receipt of the explosives expert Authority

2018

Acquisition of the Straß gravel works in the Straßertal Valley

2019

Acquisition of 12 new MAN trucks.

Anniversary celebration of 60 years of Gnant

New record numbers for employment and equipment:
