Thornmann Recycling GmbH

Im Technologiepark 1, Frankfurt an der Oder, Brandenburg, Germany | Electronic Waste Recycling

Thornmann Recycling GmbH has been recycling electronic waste for 18 years.

My name is Piotr Widuch and I am the owner of Thornmann Recycling Sp.Z o.o. in Warsaw. I would like to tell you about the activities of my company and arouse your interest. The first part of the name comes from the name of the city - Thorn, the second part is “man”, which means - “the citizen of the city of Thorn”.

The company was founded in 1998, at that time I wanted to draw attention to it and placed an advertisement in the widely read Polish newspaper. I figured that green, gothic letters would catch the eye. I was interested in the socio-technical impression.

When I started my career as a hardware recycler in 1998, many people I turned to thought that I was out of my mind. The computers were hardly ever used in general, so I already talked about their environmentally friendly (ecological) destruction. However, I was lucky and signed the contract with the company HP, then such companies as: Sony, Sharp, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Philips were added and later the household appliance manufacturers - Whirpool, Samsung and many others. At that time we were the first company in Poland to recycle the picture tube and sell the cleaned glass to the Thomson company. Back when CRT televisions and monitors were still in use, my company was the main supplier of recycled tubular glass to Thomson.
