80 YEARS OF MECHNIG HISTORY

Tradition guarantees quality

When the Mechnigs were still exporting coal by horse and cart more than 80 years ago, nobody thought that the later Mechnig GmbH in Rheinbreitbach would one day be one of the leading regional experts in the fields of demolition, earthworks and drainage.

1930 - Founding

A look at the company history of the construction company shows that the basic principles still exist today. As a family business, the Mechnig briquette and coal trade was founded around 1930 by Johann Mechnig. Back then, carriages with a maximum of two horsepower took care of the spreading, not as is the case today with high-horsepower trucks. But even then, quality and reliability had top priority, so that the company grew into a healthy, flourishing company.

1967 - Generation change

The company values ​​should not change either when the son of the company founder Hans Wilhelm Mechnig took over the business together with his wife Magdalene in 1967. The coal trade became 'Johann Mechnig und Sohn GmbH'. Coal and briquettes were no longer in demand, but earthworks and demolition work were. They quickly realized that investments in technology and knowledge were required. The company continued to grow. The orders became more complex and multi-layered. A rope excavator alone was soon no longer enough. Trucks, more powerful excavators, caterpillars, and other technology were required.

1994 - until today

The managing directors Karlheinz Krupp and Jürgen Ewenz have been running the family business since 1994. Since then, the focus has been even more on civil engineering and demolition . In keeping with tradition, the company was renamed Mechnig GmbH. Hand in hand, Karlheinz Krupp and Jürgen Ewenz continue to drive the company's development forward. Of course, this includes not only the technology and the vehicle fleet, but above all knowledge. In September 2019, Karlheinz Krupp retired from the company's management. His place has been taken by his son Dennis Krupp, who has been with the company for many years.

Future

As in the past , Mechnig GmbH relies on a head start through knowledge and technology. The aim is to always be one step ahead of current developments. And the next generation is already in the starting blocks.
