BUILT ON CAPE COD
Founded in 2000 by owner Shawn DeLude, with only a pair of work gloves, his trusty Toyota pickup truck and his dog, Nauset Disposal has earned the reputation as one of the most reliable and professional private haulers in the region.
In the years since its inception, Nauset Disposal has grown from a one-man-and-dog operation to an extended family of local employees who work together to provide our region with outstanding service. Servicing residents, commercial businesses and events from Provincetown to Duxbury, Nauset Disposal has approximately 50 employees and recently added its 44th vehicle to its fleet.
A company founded on the basis of providing excellent customer service, Nauset Disposal considers its commitment to the local community – and the environment – top priorities.
HISTORY & MISSION
Founded in 2000 by owner Shawn DeLude, with only a pair of work gloves and a trusty Toyota pickup truck, Nauset Disposal has grown into the local choice for our region’s disposal needs. But Nauset Disposal’s success didn’t come about without years of experience and hard work. In fact, Shawn started his career off at a young age “hanging” off the back of Bayside Disposal trucks, where he learned the value of great customer service.
In 1993, BFI bought out Bayside Disposal, and Shawn, as part of the acquisition, was suddenly thrust into the corporate world. Shawn quickly rose through the ranks of sales and management, learning many aspects of the industry. But Shawn was continually frustrated by the corporate lack of customer relations and mediocre service, and was never able to forget his days with Bayside Disposal, where the customer was a priority.
In 1997, Shawn got what he thought to be the chance of a lifetime when a group of local investors rebuilt the old Bayside Disposal and asked him to come aboard as a manager. Shawn jumped at the opportunity, and once again joined the local disposal scene. Two years later, however, Bayside was again consumed, this time by Allied Waste, who by taking over BFI, had become the #2 ranked company in the industry nation-wide. Shawn was now isolated from the disposal industry and spent the next summer running boat charters. This downtime gave Shawn the chance to contemplate his future. The trash industry was never far from his mind.
With his well-versed background in trash, both with small town Bayside Disposal, and later on in the corporate world with BFI, Shawn’s experiences had shown him many shortfalls on both sides of the industry. Why, he wondered, couldn’t a company provide excellent, customer-based service, while at the same time being a fully capable, locally oriented service provider? With this basic principle, enthusiastic passion, Shawn’s pair of work gloves, and his pickup truck, Nauset Disposal was soon born.
In the years since, Nauset Disposal has never forgotten its founding principles. What started as a man-and-dog-operation, has turned into an extended family of local employees who work together to provide the region with the best disposal services possible. We are continually committed to our customers, their needs, and the needs of the
communities in which we live, work, and play.
