Ingrum Waste Disposal
501 Grandview St., Paris, Illinois, United States | Waste Collection & Disposal
Family owned for 60 years.....
Ingrum Waste Disposal has been proud to serve Edgar and Clark counties since 1950. As a family owned company, we feel fortunate to have the input of three generations of the Ingrum family actively working in the business. We emphasize the outstanding customer service that has always been an important part of our business. At the same time, we are working with the newest earth friendly technologies in order to keep our community clean, healthy and safe. Over the past several years we have been able to listen to customers requests and implement much needed services like rearload dumpsters, rolling toters, and roll off containers from the 4-yard mini to large 30-yard containers.
The founder, William D. Ingrum, started the company in 1950 with the idea that he could do a better job for a fair price for the people. He started out with a 1929 Ford pickup truck, then would go on to buy his first compactor truck in 1972. Like many new business owners, Bill had plenty of challenges but worked hard to make the new business successful, providing good service to the customers.
Scott Ingrum started working for his father part time while in high school and then in 1976 began working full-time, so the second compactor truck was purchased. Scott and Kathy Ingrum purchased their own trash company in 1984, Paris Waste Disposal. That company already had two full-time employees, so Scott continued working for his dad at WD Ingrum & Sons while owning the other company.
Bill Ingrum passed away in 1986 from cancer, so Scott and Kathy bought that company from his mother and combined the two into Ingrum Waste Disposal.
In 1998 Scott and Kathy were approached by a large company (Allied Waste, 2nd largest in the world) to sell to them, so they did but bought the company back in 2003 when they decided to keep it family owned. They renamed it IWD II Inc. It was the best decision they had made.
The Ingrum family and many hardworking employees put their best efforts into the business and it continues to grow. They purchased Creech Disposal in 2003 and have been able to continue to expand their services.
In 2005 another milestone was reached when third generation, Mary Jo joined the business with a degree from Indiana Business College in Business Administration and strong customer service experience. She and her sister Bethany, who joined the company in January 2009 with a BA in accounting from Eastern Illinois University, have been instrumental in pointing the way to the future for Ingrum Waste Disposal. Mary Jo's husband CJ Becher and Bethany's husband Marc Dalbey are both drivers for IWD.
The fourth generation recently joined the company, but it will be awhile before he can add his input or be seen on a truck as grandson Myles Allen Dalbey was born on January 3rd, 2010 and comes to work everyday with mom Bethany. Molly Jo Becher born October 6, 2011 and Maggie Jo Becher born Nov 4th, 2013 also joins us here in the office. The future looks bright as the past has been successful for Ingrum Waste Disposal, a family owned business where service makes the difference.
