Waste Recycling Borsigstraße GmbH

Borsigstrasse 6 , Hamburg, Niedersachsen [Lower Saxony], Germany | Waste Management

Borsigstrasse waste disposal company!

Around 800,000 tonnes of municipal waste are generated in Hamburg every year and are incinerated in waste incineration plants in and around Hamburg.

Stadtreinigung Hamburg holds 100% of the shares in waste recycling Borsigstrasse GmbH (MVB) through SRH Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH. Since 1994, more than 320,000 tons of waste from Hamburg households have been incinerated 'around the clock' every year using the tried and tested grate furnace technology. The energy obtained in this way is used in the form of steam to supply Hamburg households with district heating.

The biomass power plant, built in 2005 as the third line, recycles more than 150,000 tonnes of A1-A4 waste wood annually. The CO2-neutrally obtained energy is fed into the respective Hamburg supply networks in the form of electricity and heat generated in cogeneration. In this way, fossil fuels can be replaced by renewable raw materials and an important contribution to climate protection can be made.

Thanks to the complex flue gas cleaning technology, it is possible to recycle almost all residual materials and return them to the material cycle. The high efficiency of the cleaning technology is also reflected in the emissions. The legal limit values are sometimes undercut by up to 99%.
