History

Amend-Rohstoff-GmbH is a well-known medium-sized scrap and metal recycling company that has been active in this area for 110 years.

1907

The company was founded in 1907 by the current managing director's great-grandfather. When the company founder Anton Amend was drafted during the First World War, his wife Berta led the company with great skill through the difficult war years. The horses, which were used to collect scrap in the founding years, were drafted into the war by the military after Anton Amend returned.

1919

Anton Amend bought a truck. At that time it was the third truck in our city. In the meantime, his sons Kurt and Walter stood by his side and with their diligence, business grew.

1969

In the next generation, Bruno, Horst and Lothar Amend continued to run the company in the spirit of their parents. From 1989 Bruno Amend was the sole owner of the business.

1989

the complete move to the freight yard took place. New office buildings and environmentally friendly storage areas were built ...

2005

Today, son Patrick runs the business in collaboration with his father.

In order to meet today's environmental requirements, the optimal solution for environmental protection and efficient work was implemented over a period of approx. Six years of planning and construction in the Kehler Hafen. In August 2005 the new company was handed over to its regulations. The scrap is processed, sorted and handled on an area of over 20,000 m².

The company is now well prepared for the challenges of the market of today and tomorrow. With committed employees, progressive, innovative solutions, state-of-the-art processing technology and an experienced management team, we will use our market opportunities successfully.

We don't just advertise our own landing stage - we use it effectively. Today, transport is possible by ship, wagon and truck. When large amounts of material have to be moved, we go on the water. The most efficient and environmentally friendly way of transporting scrap is by ship. Transport by ship gives us the most cost-effective means of supplying all major markets in the world.

2008

Enlargement through the purchase of a new property with approx. 10,000 m² to secure the location in the Kehler Hafen. Due to the favorable geographical location in Kehl and the associated better competitiveness, the operating area was expanded to approx. 30,000 m² .

Change of management: Patrick Amend is the sole managing director

2010

Construction of a new additional ship loading ramp to ensure ecological and economical scrap and metal handling. This enabled the increased material turnover to 120,000 t / year.

2011

New construction of another modern 50 t digital weighbridge to ensure a smooth and faster operation of truck deliveries.

New construction of a metal acceptance hall also for private customers for the delivery of scrap and metals.

2012

New construction of a 750 m² steel hall for the storage of drilling emulsion-contaminated steel and metal shavings.

Extension of a new, all-round glazed reception room for customers and suppliers for more efficient handling of operational processes.

2013

From 2013 the Offenburg location will be closed after more than 100 years and relocated to Kehl.

2016-2017

Planning and execution of another ship landing stage. The landing stages built in 2005/2010 were closed with a gap of 134 m. Thus, the entire facility extends over a length of 277 m and a new area of approx. The application documents for the water law permit for the landing stage were checked and approved by the RP in Freiburg.

We contribute to environmental protection ecologically and economically through direct loading by ship. Due to the steep bank, no scrap can get into the water during loading, and occupational safety protection has also been complied with.

The pit was filled with 12,500 tons of gravel. The construction time took 18 weeks and the investment volume was 1.2 million euros.

Our storage area was expanded to a total of 32,000 m².
