HAMAREC GmbH
Alte Bottroper Str. 86, Essen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany | Electronic Waste Recycling
The HAMAREC GmbH is a family business
In 2011 Marco Geers founded Hamarec with 50% company shares as a pure brokerage company with expertise in the field of electronic waste recycling.
In 2013 Marco Geers was the sole owner with 100% shares and received an offer as a manager in another company, which he also took up. So it came about that Marco Geers wanted to close Hamarec, because after all, Hamarec only consisted of him, an office and a Renault Twingo.
'I'm quitting my job and taking over Hamarec GmbH'
To his surprise, this closure was out of the question for his wife Kirstin Geers. 'I am quitting my job and from now on I will run Hamarec's business,' said Kirstin to her husband. That was the actual birth of Hamarec GmbH as a company.
As a first measure in 2013, a website was created on which every customer - regardless of the quantity - could see how and under what conditions the electronic scrap could be sold. It was important to present qualities and prices transparently and honestly. Even today companies can send small packages or individual pallets to Hamarec and, above all, get the same prices as companies with large quantities. “It is not important to me how much a customer delivers to us. It is important to me to provide the best possible price for everyone, ”Kirstin still communicates in every management meeting today.
'We also take uncomfortable loads and we need space for that'
Hamarec GmbH rented the first small warehouse in 2013 and provided the first workstation. It was important to offer the customer a proper delivery option. In the meantime, Hamarec offers its service at 4 locations with more than 60 employees. 'The customer should be able to deliver in lattice boxes, big bags, parcels, bulk goods or even pallets,' was the motto from then on.
'Origin, previous history, gender does not matter - it is important that a task is sought and not a job'
In 2015 Marco Geers came back to Hamarec as an entrepreneur. However, he did not take back the position of managing director. “This is Kirstin's work and I do my best as an entrepreneur to support you in this,” says Marco today. Today Hamarec employs people from more than 8 nations. In addition, Hamarec GmbH maintains a partnership with Handzeichen GmbH and employs deaf employees.
“It is not important to me where a person comes from, what they have learned so far and whether they have been lucky or unlucky in life. It is important to me that, like us, he is a gold digger, looking for an adventure and a task ”. (Marco Geers)
'Over 500 kg of gold recovered so far'
From the day the decision was made to run the company and not let it die, Kirstin and the team have recovered over 500 kg of gold with a value of over 20 million euros and made it available to the industry again.
We are a family business and we live this culture in our company. For us, the customer is one of them. We experience a great adventure every day and dig for gold and other precious metals in order to make it available to the industry again. Because there is more gold in just one ton of cell phones than in a ton of gold ore.
'This is a very important task that we set ourselves here and we take it very seriously' (Kirstin Geers)

Our Vision
We need more gold diggers!
Marco Geers (owner) Everyone knows: 'Electronic waste is worth money because electronic waste contains precious metals'
The most important thing about this information is that what we are not reading - the exformation!
For example, that in the around 40 million households in Germany, around 50 million cell phones are hidden in drawers and basements and are not recycled. That in turn means that around 1500 kg of gold are hidden in German drawers and cellars. 60 million euros.
It's about more!
Namely, to provide for industry. We destroy the rainforest, let people, mostly children, mine gold ore under unworthy, life-threatening conditions in order to produce jewelry or new technologies, although we leave a large part of the gold already mined to rot unused in the drawer.
We encourage you to recycle technical devices that you no longer use. There is more gold in just 1 ton of mobile phones than in 1 ton of gold ore!
We try to pay the best price for our customers so that the gold stays with us in Germany. You can sell us your scrap, from small packages to entire trucks. We need more gold diggers !
Everyone who does this is worth the same to us and so we pay you the best possible price - regardless of the amount! You can find the prices on our homepage - completely transparent!
Furthermore, we ask you to deal with the disposal at least to the extent that you are sure that your devices will be housed in certified companies.
Every year tens of millions of tons of electronic waste are generated and the sad truth is that an awful lot of it is transported to third world countries as supposedly functional 'second hand' goods. 80% of these devices end up in landfills. There, locals - not infrequently children - treat this garbage under inhumane conditions in order to survive. The life expectancy for these people is currently 37 years.
The goal of the entrepreneurial activity of Hamarec GmbH are manufacturers, service centers, companies and also recycling companies that ... ...
want to dispose of them in an ecologically and economically flawless manner. ...
operate optimally conserving resources and prefer to refurbish equipment.
want to regain valuable precious metals.
Our customers have recognized that it is important to take care of the conscientious disposal of your electronics and the recovery of the precious metals that are so important. Our customers do not care where the devices and components end up at the end of their journey. Our customers prefer sustainable reuse over simple destruction.
The central activities of HAMAREC GmbH are homogenizing, checking, recovering and repairing precious metals, as well as correct data deletion from devices and components.
We also share our know-how from our further development by advising our customers in-house or directly on site.
HAMAREC GmbH works with partners who have the same target group if it gives our customers advantages. We invest the necessary profits for the most part in the further development of our core competencies and our employees in order to follow our vision and achieve our goals.
Hamarec GmbH pays the best possible prices and fights with and for you to create a clean environment and the best possible conservation of resources.
