BaW Baustoffwerke am Wetterberg GmbH & Co KG
Kalkreuther Str. 1 , Ebersbach, Sachsen [Saxony], Germany | Waste Management
North of Dresden am Wetterberg, quality building materials for rail, road, civil and hydraulic engineering are produced on the raw material basis of a very high quality greywacke. The greywacke is particularly suitable for the production of asphalt for a wide variety of applications. Mineral mixtures, chippings, fine chippings and hydraulic engineering materials from the quarry and asphalt building materials from the asphalt mixing plant are produced and made available to the regional and, in some cases, supraregional market. We supply our customers for their construction projects in the Dresden area up to the Baltic coast.
History of the building material works on the Wetterberg:
Mining activities on the Wetterberg go back to 1927. The first buildings were built between 1933 and 1934. From 1936 the building materials works on the Wetterberg had their first office building and in 1965 the first asphalt mixing plant was built. In 1990 the disused quarry consisted of a small lake and old facilities. The old mixing plant was dismantled in 1992 and can now be viewed in the technical museum in Sinsheim. After the foundation of Baustoffwerke am Wetterberg GmbH & Co. KG in 1992, investments were made immediately in a modern chippings and high-grade chippings plant. Until the completion, the production was operated by a mobile plant. In 1993 the 1st section (split line) and in 1995 the 2nd section (high-grade split line) was inaugurated. Between 1992 and 1995, the BaW had an asphalt mixing plant with a mixing capacity of approx. 80 tons per hour. The inauguration of the new asphalt mixing plant with an output of 180 tons / hour took place in the summer of 1995. In 1999 the new primary crusher was inaugurated.
Starting in 2009, the area in front of the previously known deposit on Wetterberg began to be explored for expansion options for the quarry. An area of around 8 hectares to the south could be found using geological investigation methods. With a permit for this area, the raw material can be secured for decades to come. In addition to the necessary mining permit, a stream and a pressurized gas pipe must also be laid. The building materials works on the Wetterberg are facing a major challenge, together with the responsible authorities, the property owners and the interested public, to responsibly shape the future of mining on the Wetterberg.
March 2015
At two information events, March 30, 2015 in Ebersbach and March 31, 2015 in Ebersbach, interested citizens had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the expansion concept.
June 2015
The planning to relocate the Heidelache is in place. The route for the gas pipeline and the new farm road have been determined.
