History

It started with 1,000 t

A lot was built in the late 1970s. The Arnold Pütz excavator and demolition company excavated an excavation pit for a single-family house almost every day.

At the beginning of the 80s, the then founder Arnold Pütz bought a sand and gravel pit in Merzenich and relocated the entire company from Kreuzau there. 

At the same time, the company began recycling construction waste. Arnold and his son Siegfried Pütz came up with the idea while they were standing in the yard, looking at the rubble and found that it was actually a shame to just throw the material away.

As a test, they smashed some stones with a hammer. The first acquisition was then a small impact mill, in which, according to Siegfried Pütz, 'two to three bricks' could be processed.

The material thus shredded was well received by customers. 'As early as the following winter we went 'spinning', as they say here,' reported Siegfried Pütz. In the large works and quarries you could see how it was done there. The result was the first large jaw crusher with a throughput of around 1,000 t per day.

But now the 'age of complaints' followed. Larger quantities were processed, the company was close to the town - truck traffic and noise called the authorities on the scene.

Therefore, the company worked towards the approval for the current location in Merzenicher Heide. 'It took almost ten years,' recalls Siegfried Pütz.

In 1993 the site was finally approved. 

In the same year, father Arnold Pütz and son Siegfried Pütz completed the generation change. Siegfried Pütz took over his father's business and changed its name from a sole proprietorship to 'Arnold Pütz & Sohn Recycling GmbH'.

With the move at the end of 1996, he expanded the business to include all types of waste. Today, two jaw crushers with the corresponding sieves process around 150,000 t of construction waste annually.

A 10,000 m² hall was specially built for commercial waste, where the waste is collected and shredded. In addition, Arnold Pütz & Sohn Recycling GmbH operates a container service and the building materials trade for the bulk goods as well as of course still demolition and earthworks.

In 2015 a second generation change took place - with son Patrick Pütz as managing director.
