DRL GmbH Dessau

D ie services, recycling and landscaping GmbH Dessau took effect from 01 January 1991 to its economic activity.

From the cooperative organization “Service and Fur Animal Farm”, which had gone into liquidation, the kitchen waste collection established in Dessau was continued on behalf of the city administration with 27 employees. At the same time, capacities could be created that could solve the problems that had arisen with the collapse of the Sero-System in Dessau.

T he service contract concluded between DRL GmbH and the city of Dessau after the previous invitation to tender for the collection, transport and processing of recyclable materials thus formed the object of the company.

T he structural change in the collection and processing of kitchen waste as well as the new, higher hygienic requirements for processing forced us to look for new solutions here too. In close cooperation with the environmental agency of the city of Dessau and the engineering office Eco-Plan from Lemgo, the idea of ​​the nationwide introduction of the bio-bin and the construction of a modern composting plant matured.

On the basis of the concluded composting contract and the contract for the collection and transport of compostable waste, the construction of the composting plant began in 1992 after the BImSchG approval had been granted. A great help was the fact that the building was supported with subsidies from the state budget.

N fter the successful trial run in 1993 was registered on April 30, 1993, the DRL compost GmbH in the commercial register. Since January 1st, 1994, organic waste has been collected and composted throughout the city.

M ith the conclusion of a ground lease agreement between the city of Dessau and the DRL GmbH Dessau territorial requirements and guarantees were given for economic activity.

H oday the company of DRL network of dual system Germany GmbH (DSD) and the city of Dessau deemed reliable partners.

D ie DRL compost GmbH can now refer to one of the highest coverage rates in biological waste per capita.
