History

Hartsteinwerk Gihl GmbH originally came from company founder Alois Gihl (1914-1982), who was stationed in Eppelborn during the Second World War, settled here and decided in 1948 to found a company in Calmesweiler.

Alois Gihl's company initially dealt exclusively with the transport of coal and building materials, but a short time later a quarry site in St. Wendel / Haupersweiler was acquired and the production of ballast started.

In the mid-1970s, Hans Gihl sen, the eldest son of Alois Gihl, bought the quarry site in Pfeffelbach / Rhineland-Palatinate, where today's Hartsteinwerk Gihl GmbH operates its recycling plant.

Since 1993 there has been a cooperation with Pfeffelbacher Natursteinwerke GmbH.

After the surprising death of his father Hans Gihl sen. In October 2000 the company Hartsteinwerk Gihl GmbH was founded by the two sons Alois and Hans Gihl jun. founded.

Today the company employs around 30 people in the areas of transport, demolition and earthworks.

From then on, the young company specialized in the production of bulk materials and, above all, in the execution of demolition and earthworks. Another business area is the operation of landfills.

The certification as a waste management company according to § 52 KrW- / AbfG took place in May 2009.
