Bioin GmbH
Neuhau 10, Stammham, Bayern [Bavaria], Germany | Waste recycling
BioIN GmbH has been operating a biogas plant for organic and green waste on the former Büchl composting facility since September 1st, 2012. For this purpose, the private partner Büchl built a new plant for fermentation of the organic waste in the period 2011/2012, which is upstream of the previous composting. The energetic recovery of approx. 18,000 tons of bio and green waste from Ingolstadt will in future replace around 3,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year. This reduction in carbon dioxide emissions is an essential contribution to climate protection in Ingolstadt.
The organic waste is fermented in the dry fermentation process with exclusion of oxygen. This creates biogas, which is used to generate electricity and heat. In total, around 1200 single-family houses can be supplied with electricity from the organic waste volume in Ingolstadt. There is also compost, which is refined in further composting stages. The new system also shortens the recycling time for the biowaste. The pure composting of the waste took around ten weeks to produce the end product. With the upstream fermentation, the organic waste only has a recovery time of four to five weeks in the ideal case.
In addition to the climate contribution, the new biowaste recycling strengthens the long-term security of disposal in Ingolstadt and thus ensures long-term fee stability.
