Van Der Gucht nv has many years of expertise in the demolition of ships and has an adapted infrastructure. Because Van Der Gucht NV has an inlet port, ships can enter at high tide. At low tide, the port dries up, after which a ship can be scrapped. This terrain is therefore ideal for this activity.

It all started ...

It all started around 1890 when Ivan Van der Gucht's great-grandmother started a business in rags and scrap metal. Our family business, Van der Gucht NV, then started up in De Klinge shortly after the Second World War, collecting scrap metals, rags and rags. In the beginning, this transport was mainly done with a hand cart, then a horse and cart and in the early 1960s our first truck was a fact.

Since 1996 and now the 3rd generation, our company has established itself at the former “Boelwerf - Cockerill Yards” in Hoboken. Since then, we also have a ship-breaking yard close to the Scheldt.
