Compost UK are a green waste composter with an annual capacity of 60,000 tonnes.  

We are based in Wingate, Country Durham, situated in-between the A19 and A1.  We pride ourselves on our recycling policies which not only contribute to county and government targets but also generate natural habitats for local wildlife.

Diversification with composting.

Composting is the natural decomposition of organic matter to form a material full of nutrients for the use in agriculture or horticulture.

There have been tough targets set for recycling of all waste by the EEC (yes them again). Some 60% of all waste is biodegradable. Although this can be contaminated at the moment with other waste. I am working to reduce and segregate waste so that on farm composting sites only receive organic waste suitable for land spreading.
Farmers are ideally suited to set up sites as we have the areas already for composting, in old silage pit yards for example. The best sites are close to built up areas and Industrial estates as it is the transport that is the major cost of the projects.

We already have the machinery required for turning and spreading, no high tech requirements here. We can use a standard moisture meter probe for checking temperature and relative humidity.

We can offer help in obtaining the relevant licences, permissions and opening doors as We have experience. I am also talking to other waste producers further afield.
