At a young age, 12-13 years old, he gained his first experiences during the school holidays with his father Joop van Lies. Joop van Lies was a well-known demolisher in our region, but also in the German border area. Joop's father was also in the metal trade in the distant past. In the years after the war, the antiques trade was added. Van Lies metals has existed for more than 100 years and survived the war 1940-1945. Father Joop taught son Daniël the tricks of the trade and now he knows more about metal and metal types than before. Recently, he and his employees were allowed to phase out entire production lines of Capri-Sonne. They were able to transfer the vast majority of what was dismantled to other production lines in Germany. The growth was there and still is, which is why he moved with his company from Oldenzaal to Ootmarsum. The dismantling takes place here at Eerste Stegge 22b in Ootmarsum. But most of all, his employees are in their element when they can do the jobs on location without causing damage.
