The BEWA Group Moerdijk consists of four companies that, individually or together, take care of the processing of vegetable oils, fats and food waste into sustainable energy such as biogas and biodiesel.

The foundation was laid for BEWA Groep Moerdijk in 1950 by a farmer with three pigs. He gave these pigs leftover milk from the milk factory in Leiden where he worked and also collected potato skins and other food scraps for them. The livestock grew and when it became too large, the founder Van Benten moved to Waddinxveen. The name Van Benten Ophaaldienst was renamed BEWA (van BE nten WA ddinxveen).

In addition to food scraps, Van Benten also started to collect cooking oil. This was melted and made suitable for animal feed. This activity also expanded rapidly. At one point, BEWA was no longer an agricultural company, but was seen as an industrial company. Reason to move to another location.

Henry van Benten, now director of BEWA, decided in 1992 to sell the more than 1,000 pigs and to go to the Moerdijk industrial estate. He chose this location because of its convenient location for motorways and the seaport of Moerdijk. Not only restaurants, hospitals and chip factories in the Netherlands bring their food waste to BEWA, companies from Germany, Belgium and France also know how to find their way to the innovative company in Moerdijk.

-Organic Material Recycling Moerdijk BV (OMR Moerdijk BV) , the part of BEWA that processes organic residual flows for the digester, with the aim of producing electricity and heat.

-Fat breeding Moerdijk BV for the processing of used frying fats and oils that are released at snack bars, restaurants and factories, which can be reused in the biodiesel industry.

- Animal feed processing Moerdijk BV . for processing potato products by heating for the animal feed industry.

-BEWA Tank Terminal Moerdijk BV for the rental of tank space for the storage and transshipment of liquid products.
