Bork: family business since 1946

The history of our family business dates back to 1946, when grandfather and entrepreneur Jan Bork saw potential in a shortage of (building) materials after the Second World War. He began to collect and trade these materials, from wood to barbed wire, from the West Netherlands. Farmers and contractors were eager buyers as these materials were scarce and expensive.

With the drying up of the source of material in the west and with the decline in the trade in used material, Bork's attention shifted to demolition. Because, by demolishing it became possible to get usable material directly from the source. With Stuifzand (near Hoogeveen) as home base, this opportunity in the market was exploited from then on. In the 1980s and 1990s, there was also the realization that some substances in buildings pose a threat to public health. This makes the removal of these hazardous materials from buildings and the surrounding area an important additional task within Bork.

As an innovative leader in the demolition, recycling and remediation industry, we want to make a valuable contribution to a world that we can proudly pass on to future generations. We believe that the realization of this dream starts by simply paying closer attention to each other and the environment. That is why we demolish with respect for the environment, people and animals. Thanks to a sustainable mindset , all kinds of technical developments and innovative ideas, we can continue to pursue our mission better. For example, together with a number of other front runners in the demolition industry, we are drivers of the so desired circular cycle and we make 'room for progress'.

The line: production of raw materials> construction> demolition> transport to landfill will very soon be a thing of the past. The demolition and construction industry play a very important role in this. By leading the way with innovative methods and constantly anticipating social needs, we distinguish ourselves from peers in the industry.

Safety

At Bork, we work together to ensure that hazardous substances are removed, so that the safe use of buildings and a safe living environment can be created. To this end, we are constantly innovating in the field of remediation of hazardous substances and materials. Because remediation and demolition is precision work. In addition, we focus on safe working conditions for both people and the environment. We are in possession of all the necessary certifications that demonstrate that we work in accordance with all applicable rules and guidelines. This also guarantees, for example, that the recycled products we offer are clean and suitable for reuse. We also work according to the CO 2 performance ladder, step 3, because we find it important to keep our CO 2emissions.

We invest in our people through regular training and education so that our knowledge is always up-to-date. We also invest in technical development, including the latest equipment, so that we can always perform our work professionally and in any circumstances. In addition, Bork believes in working together to guarantee quality, because together you go further than alone. That is why we have been an active participant for many years in the trade association for demolition contractors and asbestos removers: Veras (Association of Contractors in the Demolition).
