H. Blom & Zonen BV has been big in metals, iron and packaging materials for over a century!

1912-1994 Officially, 1912 is the year of foundation, but it was probably already traded in metals. Henk Blom and his father started on the Bickerseiland. Scrap iron and metals were traded here, mainly from shipping and industry. Around 1930 Hein's son, named Evert, joined the business and the company moved to the Houthavens of Amsterdam. There, in addition to the metal trade, a cautious start was made with the trade in wooden barrels. Due to the increasing use of wooden barrels, and later steel barrels, this trade took an increasingly important place within the company. In 1940, Evert's eldest brother, Henk, joined the business, who, after his brother's premature death in 1966, continued the business together with Evert Sr.'s son, Evert Christiaan. The help of Henk his son-in-law, Dries Johannessen was needed in 1970, with the arrival of Dries H. Blom & Zonen BV had a future again. In 1990 the team was expanded with the arrival of Evert jr., The son of Evert Christiaan, now he is the 4th generation at H. Blom & Zonen BV

1995-2015  This period is mainly dominated by relocation and expansion and new construction.

1995 → move to Jan van Riebeeckhavenweg 6 in the petroleum harbor, the area of ​​1000m² at that time will be provided with a liquid-tight floor and oil and grease separator

2000 → purchase of new land of 300m² 

2003 → expansion of company with 1500m² and new construction of an insulated warehouse of 750m² with a completely liquid-tight floor and with oil and grease separator

2008 → expansion of the company with 1000m² and new construction of an insulated warehouse of 550m² with a completely liquid-tight floor and with oil and grease separator

2011 → expansion of company with 1500m², since 2011 we now have a site of 5300m² at our disposal

2014 → new 500m² warehouse, construction of weighbridge and new platform scale

The team → In 2001 Remco Brouwer joined the team as a truck driver. After his retirement in 2006, Evert Christiaan continued to work daily until 2008. In the meantime, Evert Willem had taken over the business in 2006 and his father-in-law, John Jansen, came to provide support in 2009. Since 2009 Sandra, wife of Evert, takes care of the administration, marketing and website. Until shortly before his death, Evert Christiaan was still regularly present at the case, but after a short illness we had to say goodbye to him on November 14, 2011. In 2011 Jan Crucq joined the team. Jan is mainly engaged in the intake and weighing of metals / iron and the sale / cleaning of barrels. In 2020 Jelle Verlaat has joined us, he can also be used all-round within our company.
