United Medical Industries Corp.

8603 NW 66th Street, Miami, Florida, United States | Waste Management

We provide professional medical waste management solutions for large, medium and small facilities, including hospitals, outpatient care facilities, dentists, doctors, and all other biomedical waste generators. Alongside our medical waste disposal services, we also provide pharmaceutical waste management, sharps containers, and other solutions for your company's needs.

OUR VISION

UMI is the most trusted medical waste management company in Florida. Our goal is to provide Florida biomedical waste generators with a single-source, end-to-end biohazard waste management solution. UMI is truly a full-service medical waste management company. We take full responsibility for our customers’ medical waste from the moment it is collected at their location, through sterilization in the UMI, state-of-the-art, approved autoclave facility, and finally by transport to an approved landfill.

Unlike many medical waste transporters in Florida, who turn over their biohazardous waste to a third party for sterilization and disposal, UMI is able to fully track all biomedical waste picked up from their customer facility. According to UMI’s VP, Marlene Campos Yero, “Because the waste never leaves our hands until it is safe and no longer infectious, we are able to protect our customer from any future liability that may arise from the handling of the medical waste.”

OUR HISTORY. OUR PEOPLE

The pride of UMI lies in our people

In February 2002, United Medical Industries, Corp., (UMI) was incorporated.  Jose and Marlene purchased an old van for $4,000.00, and with a dream in their heart and the desire to succeed and make Carlos proud, they set off on their new venture. Marlene would handle the sales and the administrative side of the business while Jose drove the van servicing customers.

In April 2006, after signing up an additional 200 customers, Jose’s uncle, Diego, would also be hired so Jose could get off the truck and join Marlene in the sales and administrative side.  In August 2007, they would also hire their son, Andrew, to help with the administrative side.  By then, UMI had grown to over 500 customers. A few years later, Marlene’s sister Nancy, was hired to handle all of the sales.  With renewed passion and purpose, the UMI team worked relentlessly at building the medical waste management company in an industry their brother and mentor, Carlos M. Campos, had pioneered and made them a part of.

The focus would continue to be the same in honoring and carrying on his legacy.  Just ten years after taking the leap of faith, UMI had grown to over 3,000 customers.  In 2016, UMI has grown to nearly 4000 loyal, satisfied, customers and services the entire State of Florida.  The old van was eventually replaced with a fleet of trucks and UMI has gone from being a mere transporter of medical waste to a full-service medical waste management company, with their own state-of-the-art treatment facility.

The business continues to be family owned and operated, and their passion and desires are still aimed at making their mentor proud by providing the highest level of service in the industry today to their customers, just as he would have expected of them.

OUR FACILITIES

The UMI medical waste autoclave system leverages steam autoclave technology – the most popular and cost-effective biomedical waste treatment solution available. Unlike an incinerator, a steam autoclave does not generate any hazardous or combustible air pollutants such as hydrochloric acid, carbon monoxide, dioxin/furnins or metal particulate matter. The autoclaved medical waste byproduct is sanitized and safe for landfill disposal.

UMI provides professional and comprehensive medical waste management solutions for large, medium and small facilities, allowing hospitals, outpatient care facilities, dentists, doctors, animal hospitals, and all other biomedical waste generators to more effectively manage their waste while reducing exposure to potential liabilities. Operating in compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, UMI assumes full responsibility for all medical waste treatment the minute it leaves your facility, effectively putting an end to your medical waste disposal problems today and tomorrow.
