Established in 1968, we have over 50 years’ experience in the demolition industry. Based in Farrington Gurney, just South of Bristol, we undertake works throughout Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

Weaver Plant Ltd is Born

In December 1968 A J Weaver Plant Ltd was set up by John Weaver, operating from a yard in Hinton Blewett, just South of Bristol. Works at this time involved railway work and the dismantling and sale of timber buildings on local RAF camps. The company also offered plant hire and the fleet at that time consisted of a John Deere loading shovel, Caterpillar and Massey Ferguson tracked shovels and Ford tractors with Shawnee Pull Dump Trailers.

1968

Company Buys It’s First Digger

1971

The company purchased their first JCB digger and from this point the business and its fleet began to grow. Works consisted of Demolition, Railway work, road plaining and transport. Eventually the company were running a mixture of plant and at one point 60 Lorries ranging from 4 wheelers up to Artic’s which ran in both the UK and Europe.

1984 -1985

Opened a Second Office

The company opened a second office in Middlesbrough carrying out demolition, dismantling and asbestos removal works for ICI Wilton Plant until approximately 1992 at which point the office was closed.

Move to Farrington Gurney

1987

The company relocated from Hinton Blewett to our current premises at Farrington Fields in Farrington Gurney. Around this time, demolition and associated works became the main stay of the business. In 1987 we carried out a 12 month contact in Norway decommissioning tanks.

Became members of the NFDC

Became members of the NFDC (National Federation of Demolition Contractors).

1989

John Weaver Passes Away

2000

John Weaver passed away and his son Mike took over. At around this time works were condensed back to focus on the demolition and dismantling.

2004

Name Change to Weaver Demolition Ltd

Company name was changed to Weaver Demolition Ltd to reflect our main business activities.

2007

New Offices Built

New offices built at the Farrington Fields site.

2018

Weaver Demolition is 50 Years Old

Marked the company’s 50th anniversary.

Where We Are Now

Third generation of family is now actively involved in the company working alongside Mike. After achieving ISO 14001 certification in 2011 and following the 2015 update to the standard the company are currently working towards a combined system incorporating ISO 9001 (Quality), 14001(Environmental) and 45001 (Health and Safety).
