PlasRecycle Ltd

Nathan Way, London, Middlesex, United Kingdom | Plastic Recycling

PlasRecycle has built the UK’s 1st dedicated plant for recycling post-consumer shopping bags and films collected at the kerbside from households.

On 15 July 2016 Robert Hunter Kelly and Charles Graham John King were appointed Joint Administrators of Plasrecycle Limited. The affairs, business and property of the company are being managed by the Joint Administrators who contract as agents of the company and without personal liability.

The plant recycles Polyethylene bags and films, to produce a clean plastic granulate that is used for manufacturing new bags and other products, thus replacing virgin materials.

PlasRecycle’s first plant has been funded by an investment of £12 million and is located in South East London. The plant was funded by private investment as well as two loans from public sector bodies.

PlasRecycle was founded in 2010 and the 1st plant opened in September 2013. The plant can process around 20,000 tonnes per annum of post-consumer films and bags, equivalent to 2.5 billion HDPE shopping bags each weighing 8g or 600 million LDPE shopping bags each weighing 33g. Expansion is planned for 2015.
