As an owner-managed family company, we combine diverse experience with continuous development. We are committed to innovative recycling processes that are economical and ecological. We always focus on the wishes and requirements of our customers from industry and commerce.
We attach great importance to reliable cooperation. Our employees reward this with dedicated work and long-term employment. We are also a reliable and long-term partner for our customers.
High quality standards are a matter of course for us. All companies in the Ludwig Melosch Group are certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001: 2008 and - depending on the focus of their activities - as waste management companies.
As early as 1907, Ludwig Melosch demonstrated entrepreneurial foresight when he founded a waste paper trade. Even then, the guiding principle of our business was the careful use of valuable resources. That is still true today.
TRADITION MEETS INNOVATION
THE 1ST GENERATION AND THE BEGINNING
• Company founded by Peter William Ludwig Melosch (December 4, 1881 to December 1, 1954).
• In 1907 the Ludwig Melosch paper and cardboard company was founded as a pure new paper business.
• In 1918, this company added the trade in waste paper to its portfolio. The first operation was established in Hamburg-Altona (Roonstrasse). Operating rooms that were too small made it necessary to move to Hamburg's old town (Cremon) and then to Hamburg-Altona (Eimsbütteler Straße).
• In 1924 the founder decided to build a new building on a purchased commercial site in Hamburg-Altona, Waidmannstrasse 16. When a larger layer of gravel was found on the property, the decision was made to use the “Ambi construction”. Stones are filled with slag or concrete. These stones were made on site. This new building is the company's existing headquarters to this day.
• In the next few years the waste paper business became more and more lucrative and displaced the activities of the new paper business. The business purpose changed and by 1945 a large waste paper company was established.
THE 2ND GENERATION AND THE EXPANSION
• After the war in 1945, the brothers Ludwig and Walter Melosch rebuilt the bombed-out factory in Waidmannstrasse. A task with many difficulties.
• Together, this was achieved with energy, strong will and hard work, so that in 1965 the company was able to expand further. A new large company was built in Ahrensburg on the green field. The operation was primarily set up in order to be able to serve the new large printing plant of the Axel Springer publishing house.
• In 1968, the second generation built two large industrial halls in the Hamburg headquarters to expand paper activities.
THE 3RD GENERATION AND THE RISE OF THE COMPANY
• This was followed by the establishment of further branches in Berlin, Darmstadt, Kettwig, Cologne and Frankfurt.
• In 1989, during the reunification, further branches for the waste paper business were founded in the new federal states.
• In the same year there was a return to the new paper business. Back to the roots. They remembered the founding years and were also successful here.
THE 4TH GENERATION - CONSOLIDATION AND FURTHER GROWTH
• But the focus remained on the waste paper. From 1993 the export business to Southeast Asia was gradually built up. A new, continuous sales market was opened up.
• In 1996 a recycling company was founded in Budapest.
• The establishment and establishment of new companies and branches continues in the new millennium. Business activities grow. Trade and production stimulate each other.
• 2004 New construction of a large waste paper plant in Pinneberg.
• 2005 Start of operations in Uelzen in connection with the expansion of plastics activities.
• 2008 New construction of a recycling plant in Erfurt.
• In 2011 the step across the “big pond” takes place: a trade office is set up on the American west coast (USA).
And the way goes on ...
