Gigler GmbH

Gollingkreuter Weg 13, Schrobenhausen, Bayern [Bavaria], Germany | Waste Management

HISTORY

In 1971 Alois Gigler founded Gigler GmbH in Schrobenhausen. It all started with a towing service and a workshop for dismantling old cars. Shortly afterwards, the operation was expanded to include container services. Today more than 4,000 large containers are moved with 50 vehicles. Metal recycling and scrap trading were added over the years and were completed in 1992 with the purchase of 540-ton scrap shears.

In the following years, constant investments and expansion were made on the premises of the parent company in Gollingkreuter Weg. Over the course of time, new production halls and storage areas have been built on an area of 60,000 m². Today you can find facilities for the dismantling of old vehicles, waste wood treatment, scrap treatment, plastics recycling, recycling and much more on the site.

In 2013 the Schrobenhausen location was upgraded further. Extended noise protection, additional light liquid separators and modernization of some systems. The last major investment was the dismantling of the old scrap shears and the installation of a state-of-the-art, high-performance, computer-aided 770-tonne scrap shear. The company's own vehicles and containers as well as the company's systems and machines are maintained in the company's own workshop. The workshop was expanded significantly in 2013 through the acquisition of the former Wagner steel construction company.

In Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, too, developments did not stand still. In 1981 the first container terminal was set up. Only on the Ilminsel, then later on a commercial property in the Weihern district, containers were made available for customers to exchange. With the acquisition of the former MEA site in 2013, the Pfaffenhofen location was significantly expanded. A plastics processing center will be installed in the hall on the 24,000 m² site, in addition to the existing transshipment point and a 60 ton truck scale with waste acceptance. The plans for further expansion are underway here.

In 2004 Gigler GmbH took over the disposal company Hackenbuchner GmbH in Augsburg on Kurt-Schumacher-Straße in the Lechhausen district. In 2006 a new company site was realized with the purchase of a 17,500 m² commercial property in Bozener Straße. An existing administration and storage building was renovated. A new interim storage facility for hazardous waste, storage areas for waste and raw materials and a production hall for sorting and pressing waste were built.

In 1996 the quality management system of Gigler GmbH was certified for the first time; Back then it was still according to DIN EN ISO 9002. Currently, certification according to ISO 9001: 2015. With the certification as a waste management company in 1997, Gigler GmbH became the first company in Bavaria to present this certificate. Since then, Gigler GmbH has been measured against the provisions of ISO 9001 and the Ordinance on Waste Management Companies every year and checked neutrally by an independent monitoring institute.

Founded as a one-man business, Gigler GmbH today serves customers with more than 130 employees.
