Hummel Recycling BV

Hummel Recycling started 30 years ago to collect regionally with waste iron, waste paper and plastics. (In the year that the Netherlands was able to call itself the best football country in Europe, Peter Hummel is one of the founders of Hummel Recycling with the collection of calf milk bags and old metals. The other founder Johan Hummel had a supermarket and saw more future in recycling Plastic recycling was in full development in the early 1990s and they discovered that there was a need for a collection company in the Northern Netherlands. Initially they started together, but soon the supply of plastics was so great that all fronts were required to be expanded. As a result, Peter and Johan have relocated a number of times and each time more staff was needed to handle all incoming flows. Furthermore, there was little expertise in plastics, Johan and Peter had to pioneer to achieve the reuse of certain plastics. Later, Hummel Recycling became a member of NRK Recycling, in which all Dutch plastic recyclers are united.

The history of waste paper recycling goes back further and to become active in this market less groundbreaking work had to be done to gain a market share. To receive waste paper, Hummel is in possession of an OPK certificate and a member of the branch association FNOI)

The collected flows have been and are still sold at home and abroad.

Due to the growing demand in the 1990s, the purchasing market has expanded from the north of the Netherlands to almost all European countries. To be allowed to collect and receive waste materials, Hummel must have various permits and certificates. For all certificates click here. Over the years, the regional collection remains important to Hummel. This collection takes place by means of the release of various rental containers , which in many cases are emptied daily. We keep repeating.  

Processing

Hummel Recycling collects plastics and waste paper in various ways. This is sorted so that it is made suitable for reuse. The homogeneous waste streams are then compressed by type in a large baler. The bales are then stored in one of the storage sheds. The last step is that the goods are sold and loaded.

Corporate social responsibility is important to Hummel Recycling. Hummel Recycling has been committed to charities both in the Netherlands and abroad for years.

Agricultural plastic

In the late 1980s, Peter and Johan Hummel started collecting agricultural films and knapsacks. The other plastics and waste paper were added later.
