Kunz Rohstoffhandel GmbH
Feldstrasse 8, Augsburg, Bayern [Bavaria], Germany | Plastic Recycling
As a specialist company in the scrap and metal trade, Kunz is one of the oldest companies of its kind in Augsburg and the region. It was founded around 1890 and registered in 1898. In the more than 125 years of company history, the company has developed into a modern waste disposal specialist.
KUNZ Rohstoffhandel uses scrap and waste from industry, mechanical engineering, building trade, craft, trade, municipalities, demolition of buildings and private households. We collect large quantities with our own container service / vehicle fleet. Our location in Feldstraße near the gas boiler serves as central administration, as an interim storage facility and for sorting and loading the goods over an area of over 17,000 square meters. There is also a dedicated siding for direct rail loading.
The Kunz company in Feldstrasse was founded by Andreas Schiele around 1890 and registered in 1898 with commercial law. At the beginning of the last century it was purchased by the master blacksmith Anton Schmidt, who led it until July 31, 1913 under the name 'Schiele Nachf. Anton Schmidt'.
On August 1, 1913 the company passed to the Augsburg merchant Josef Kunz, the owner's brother-in-law at the time. The business, which had been small up to this point, experienced a strong economic boom when it was taken over. Already in the following year the company employed about thirty workers and was an unusual size for the industry at that time. Josef Kunz led his company with much diligence and entrepreneurial skill through more than four decades with all personal and economic hardships and difficulties.
The two world wars, recessions, market problems, sales difficulties, price drops and economic setbacks demanded the ability, luck and courage of the entrepreneur at the same time. After his death on January 19, 1956, his son took over the management of the company and the company's specialization in scrap metal and metal wholesale had to be consolidated.
The company chronicle in 1964 shows the takeover by the Munich entrepreneur Helmut Wimmer. Under his leadership, the company quickly developed to a technically advanced level.
- In 1989 a new large pair of shears with 800 tons of shear force was installed
- In 1990 the company paved the entire company premises in accordance with water law
- 1990 A large chip hall was built
In the following years, the disposal services were expanded to include waste wood, old vehicles and construction site waste with its own container service.
In 2004 the 'KUNZ Rohstoffhandel GmbH' was founded together with Thyssen Alfa Rohstoffhandel GmbH. This step gave the company a significant upgrade in the scrap and metals sector. The new network also made it possible to expand the radius of action and thus the business areas.
- In 2008 the takeover of the former oil tank farm took place with a complete integration into the area of the KUNZ recycling center
- in 2009 Kunz Rohstoffhandel opened the plastics recycling division. In the meantime there are already three processing rails for engineering plastics.
- 2009 KUNZ-Logistik is founded
Ecological and economic guidelines and necessities nowadays require more progressive and flexible thinking in all areas of disposal. KUNZ Rohstoffhandel: We do it.
