History

A brief history of time…

Let’s start our history lesson at the very beginning…

The company was started by William Bagnall, who worked as a plumber, and Gerry Morris, who worked as a builder- they met when they worked at the Wirral Gas Board. Having decided to leave their jobs, Bagnall & Morris was incorporated on 5th July 1954.

The first, and initially only, contract the company obtained was working for the Gas Board, installing pipes and connecting up private housing to the gas mains.

In 1984 Ken Curtis, who also worked at the gas board and was a good friend of Bill Bagnall, took the ropes and began to help spot further opportunities for the company to grow.

1986 saw the company secure the Highway Maintenance contract with Wirral Borough Council, with Sefton, Halton, Flintshire and Lancashire contracts following after.

1988 B&M secured gulley cleansing contracts with Wirral Borough Council, which further increased the presence and workload within the Wirral area.

1990 A new gulley cleansing contract followed the Wirral deal, in the nearby borough of Norfolk. Again, increasing the workload and presence, and Suffolk was next on board.
