Royal Christening 2013 UK Gold Proof Five Ounce Coin

 Product Details:

To celebrate the christening of Prince George of Cambridge, The Royal Mint will strike a range of premier coins. It is a first for Britain’s coinage – just like the coin struck for the birth of Prince George, this is the first time a Royal christening has ever been marked for the nation. And the Five-Ounce coin, with five full ounces of fine gold, is such a special coin, so limited in number that it is a fitting tribute to a young Prince who is destined to be king.

The official coins struck for Prince George’s birth sold out so quickly that many were disappointed. And with the issue of Five-Ounce coins in gold limited to 150, few will be lucky enough to add one to their collection. The Five-Ounce coin is so important, and to commemorate the christening of the new Prince the Palace has officially approved a design that is worthy of Britain’s most prestigious coins.

Sculptor John Bergdahl has created a design that recalls Royal traditions, his opulent and richly detailed lilies and cherubs filling the field of more than six centimetres. When struck to perfection by our craftspeople this coin is simply beautiful. It will only be found in the most exclusive collections, every detail luxurious, including the bespoke box and Certificate of Authenticity that complete the presentation.
