China's finished steel exports surged 45% in August this year

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): According to most recent data released by Chinese Customs, the country’s finished steel exports surged during the month of August. The imports of finished steel by the country too witnessed a marginal uptick during the above mentioned month.
As per data, the finished steel exports by the country during the month of August totaled 6.14 million tons. The finished steel exports soared 44.8% when co0mpared with the similar figures a year ago.
The total finished steel imports by the country during August this year amounted to 1.23 million tons, which is 2.5% higher when compared with the total imports during August 2012.
According to customs data, the cumulative finished steel exports by the country during the eight months from January to August totaled 41.98 million tons, which is 17.4% higher when compared with the exports during the same eight-month period in 2012.
The cumulative finished steel imports by the country during the eight months from January to August totaled 9.23 million tons, which is 0.9% lower when compared with the finished steel imports during corresponding eight-month period last year.
