Copper Scrap Prices: Weekly Market Report- April 11, 2025

The closing price of LME Copper 3-Month contract stood at USD 8,986.00 per tonne as of April 10, 2025.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The below report analyses the weekly price trends of scrap copper across various regional markets during the past week (April 4-10, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index.

North America Prices

The copper scrap prices in the region displayed mixed trend.

Xmas Lights saw the largest price decline over the previous week, going down from $0.28 per pound to $0.27 per pound. The commodity’s prices recorded a weekly decline by 3.57%.

The other copper scrap varieties to record significant dip in prices include Sealed Units and Starters, which recorded price declines by 2.50% and 2.44% respectively.

The prices of Alternator, Copper Transformer Scrap, Scrap Electric Motors, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #3 Copper- Light Copper, Cu Yokes, #1 Copper Bare Bright and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing edged lower on the Index.

Copper Radiators and Cu/Al Radiator Ends prices held steady on the Index.

Meanwhile, Cu/Al Radiators, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Romes Wire, Harness Wire 35% Recovery and Heater Cores prices edged higher on the Index, when compared with the previous week’s prices.

 

USA East Coast Prices

Majority of the copper scrap categories recorded decline in price in the region. 

Xmas Lights prices recorded the biggest dip over the week, witnessing a decline from $0.28 per Lb to $0.27 per Lb. A notable decline of 2.50% and 2.44% was seen in Sealed Units and Starters respectively over the week.

The other scrap copper category that recorded noteworthy fall in prices was Alternator, whose prices went lower from $0.43 per Lb a week before to $0.42 per Lb as of April 10, 2025. Also, Cu Yokes prices were down by 2.15% week-on-week.

The other copper scrap varieties to record weekly decline in prices include Copper Transformer Scrap, Scrap Electric Motors, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #3 Copper- Light Copper, #1 Copper Bare Bright and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing.

Copper Radiators and Cu/Al Radiator Ends prices held steady on the Index.

In the meantime, Cu/Al Radiators, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Romes Wire, Harness Wire 35% Recovery and Heater Cores prices increased on the Index.

USA Midwest Prices

The copper scrap prices in the region was a mixed bag over the previous week.

The top three losers were Xmas Lights, Sealed Units and Starters.

The Xmas Lights prices ended the week at $0.26 per Lb, down from the previous week’s price of $0.27 per Lb. Also, Sealed Units and Starters decreased over the previous week to close at $0.38 per Lb and $0.39 per Lb respectively.

Alternator prices were down by 2.38%. Also, Cu Yokes prices ended the week at $0.90 per Lb, recording a fall of 2.17% over the prior week.

USA West Coast Prices

The copper scrap metal prices in the region recorded mixed trend, with prices of most categories registering decline week-on-week, while a few other rising on the Index. However a few copper scrap categories were flat over the previous week.

The scrap category to decline the most was Xmas Lights, whose prices recorded decrease from $0.28 per Lb at the start of the week to $0.27 per Lb towards the end of the week. It was followed by Sealed Units and Starters, whose prices registered decline by 2.44% each.

Also, Alternator recorded weekly decline, with prices registering fall from $0.44 per Lb during the prior week to $0.43 per Lb as of April 10, 2025.

The prices of Cu Yokes also reported a decline of 2.13%, closing the week at $0.92 per Lb on the Index.

Copper Radiators and Cu/Al Radiator Ends prices held steady on the Index.

Meanwhile, Cu/Al Radiators, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Romes Wire, Harness Wire 35% Recovery and Heater Cores prices edged higher on the Index, when compared with the previous week’s prices.

 

China Prices

All copper scrap categories in the region witnessed weekly price decreases.

#2 Copper Wire and Tubing recorded the biggest decline in prices during the previous week.

The #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices edged lower from CNY 73,200 per MT to CNY 69,700 per MT each. 

The weekly price chart of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing is provided below:

 

#1 Copper Wire and Tubing reported fall in prices by CNY 3,500 per MT, from CNY 74,200 per MT during the start of the week to end at $70,700 per MT. 

#1 Copper Bare Bright also reported 4.49% decline in prices over the week.

In the meantime, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, Heater Cores, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Cu/Al Radiators, Copper Transformer Scrap, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Cu Yokes, Sealed Units, and Scrap Electric Motors prices also recorded marginal decline on the Index.

 

India Prices

The scrap commodities in Indian market recorded decline from the previous week's price levels.

The copper sheet cutting scrap prices recorded the biggest fall, edging lower by 14.91% to close at INR 388,000 per Ton as of April 10, 2025. The weekly chart of the commodity is provided below:

 

The prices of Copper Armature, Copper cable scrap, Copper heavy scrap, Copper utensil scrap, and Copper wire bars (HCL*) also recorded decline during the week ending April 10, 2025.

Europe Prices

The prices of all copper scrap commodities such as #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Braziery Copper, Copper Dry Bright, Copper Radiators, and Copper Tubes were steady during the course of the week.

LME Copper Market Update

The closing price of LME Copper 3-Month contract stood at USD 8,986.00 per tonne as of April 10, 2025. The LME Copper Cash Settlement contract edged higher marginally from $8,539.00 a day before to $8,978.00 per tonne.

The LME Copper stocks decreased marginally to 209,425 tonnes as of April 10, 2025, when compared with 211,925 tonnes the day before.
