e-Stewards and Bloom ESG Launched Environmental Benefits Calculator for Electronics Recyclers

The ISO-approved, independently verified methodology launched by Bloom ESG is aimed at addressing this gap.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): In order to introduce a revolutionary environmental benefits calculator for electronics recyclers and refurbishers, e-Stewards established a strategic alliance with Bloom ESG, a London-based company. The technology gives the industry a cutting-edge, empirically supported way to quantify environmental benefits.

There hasn't been a standardized way for the electronics recycling sector to measure Scope 1-3 and Scope-4 emissions, which are linked to lowering carbon emissions through recycling and reusing devices. Up until now, e-waste processors have relied on non-specialized equipment.

This gap is intended to be filled by Bloom ESG's independently validated, ISO-approved approach. e-Stewards, which was created in 2009 by the environmental advocacy group Basel Action Network (BAN), has approved the methodology. This guarantees a consistent and open process for environmental reporting.

By assisting businesses in calculating their avoided emissions for ESG reporting, the environmental benefits calculator will establish a new benchmark for measuring environmental benefits. Other environmental ESG criteria, like water consumption, the use of toxic materials, and the overall toxicity footprint, will be added to the calculator in the future.
