Teck Resources Announced 2024 Production and 2025 Guidance Update

Tech Resources expects copper production to range between 490,000 and 565,000 tonnes in 2025.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Updates on 2024 production levels and an operational and capital guidance for 2025 were released by Vancouver, British Columbia-based Teck Resources Limited, which is expected to issue its Q4 and full year 2024 financial results on February 20, 2025.

Due mostly to Quebrada Blanca's (QB) ramp-up, the business reported preliminary copper output of 446,000 tons in 2024, which was 50% greater than the previous year. With QB contributing 60,700 tonnes, the quarterly copper production reached a new record of 122,100 tonnes in Q4, up 19% from the previous year. Over the course of the quarter, QB sold 66,400 tons of copper.

In 2024, 615,900 tonnes of concentrate zinc were produced annually, a 4% decrease from 2023. Due primarily to production losses from a small fire in the electrolytic zinc facility at Trail in September 2024, the year's refined zinc production was 256,000 tonnes, 4% less than the previous year.

Between 490,000 and 565,000 tonnes of copper are anticipated to be produced in 2025, according to Tech Resources. Meanwhile, it is anticipated that the yearly production of zinc would continue to fall between 525,000 and 575,000 tons. It is anticipated that production will decrease over the next three years, mostly as a result of Red Dog's deteriorating grades.
