Glencore, Cyclic Materials Struck Recycled Copper Supply Agreement

Under the terms of the agreement, Cyclic Materials will provide high-quality copper obtained from recycled electronic scrap.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Advanced metals recycling startup Cyclic Materials has secured an agreement with Swiss mining giant Glencore towards delivery of recycled copper. The multi-year partnership is intended to help in addressing the expanding demand for the metal, by developing sustainable practices and driving copper circularity.

As per the deal, Cyclic Materials will supply premium copper made from recovered electronic waste. At the Horne Smelter and Canadian Copper Refinery (CCR), Glencore will further purify and process this copper to produce copper cathode, which can be utilized to produce new end products for energy transition-related technologies. It is anticipated that recycled copper shipments would start in late 2025.

According to Cyclic Materials' co-founder and CEO, Ahmad Ghahreman, the company is thrilled to be working with Glencore on copper recycling. According to him, the deal is a major step toward finding important partners to buy its recycled resources.

Cyclic Materials has formed strategic alliances with important industry players like Solvay, Vattenfall, Synetiq, and VACUUMSCHMELZE throughout the last 12 months. The global strategy for recycling essential materials has changed as a result of these collaborations.
