Partnership Between the City of Mobile, AL and Recycling Company Helps Keep Electronic Waste Out of Landfills
Not only does Ransom Solutions collect these unwanted items, they also have a team to sort and process through the electronic waste.
SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): The City of Mobile is partnering with Ransom Solutions, a recycling center in Chickasaw, to provide convenient ways to keep electronics out of landfills. Founder and Executive Director of Ransom Solutions Matt Armbruster said throwing away old electronics with the household garbage can pollute and contaminate our landfills.
“There’s a lot of toxic waste in electronics,” Armbruster said. “There’s mercury, there’s lead, so we go in and we separate all those different things and then we sell them which goes back into the stream.” Armbruster said they offer three recycling locations around Mobile, making it convenient to recycle wherever you live. We say anything that plugs into a wall…toasters, a blender, computers, printers, anything that’s smaller.”
Not only does Ransom Solutions collect these unwanted items, they also have a team to sort and process through the electronic waste. What’s more is that their goal is to empower homeless individuals with employment opportunities and provide innovative solutions for the community.
