Saica Seeks to Build New Recycled Paper Mill in Dayton, Ohio
Also, it is expected to create approximately 230 full-time jobs in the region.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to reports, Saica, the top producer of recycled paper for corrugated board in Europe, is looking to construct a new paper plant near Dayton, Ohio. In order to proceed with the construction, the corporation has petitioned the city authorities for the necessary zoning restrictions to be amended. Paper and pulp manufacturing are prohibited by the current zoning law.
The business has asked the city to change the law to separate the ban on all paper and pulp manufacturing from the recycling of paper. It asserted that compared to conventional pulp or paper mills, the production of recycled paper has shown a significantly lower environmental impact.

The business estimates that the proposed recycled paper mill plant will cost $600 million. It will be situated approximately south of Trotwood in northwest Dayton, at the northeast corner of Little Richmond and Olive roads. Additionally, it is anticipated to generate about 230 full-time jobs in the area.
Meanwhile, Trotwood's mayor, city manager, and school district officials are allegedly strongly against the proposed project. The project has also been opposed by the Trotwood Chamber of Commerce, which claims that the mill could pollute the area and cause odors that would lower people's quality of life.
