Weekly Scrap Metal Price Report- November 22, 2024

The prices of New Zinc Die Cast registered no variation from the previous week’s price of $0.77 per Lb.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly global market price trends for the various scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the period of November 15–November 21, 2024, are described in the report that follows:

 

Copper Scrap Prices

The price of copper scrap increased marginally by 1.33% over the previous week.

North America

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright was up by 1.29% over the previous week’s price. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing increased by 1.33% from the start of the week, closing at $3.82 a pound. Likewise, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing recorded an increase of $0.05, from $3.67 to $3.72 per pound.

USA East Coast

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index edged higher from $3.87 to $3.92 per pound on Thursday, November 21, 2024, a week-over-week increase of 1.29%. Over the course of the week, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing went higher from $3.77 to $3.82 per pound. The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing registered an increase by 1.36% to $3.72 per pound by the end of the week.

USA Midwest

#1 Copper Bare Bright's price were up 1.33% over the preceding week. Furthermore, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing had a 1.36% rise in price, ending the week at $3.72 per pound as opposed to $3.67 at the start. Over the course of the week, the price of copper scrap in the #2 Copper Wire and Tubing category inched higher from $3.57 to $3.62 per pound.

USA West Coast

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright was up 1.27% during the week, rising from $3.94 to $3.99 per pound, according to the ScrapMonster Index. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing increased this week, from $3.84 to $3.89 per pound. By the conclusion of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had gone higher by 1.34%, from $3.74 to $3.79 per pound.

China

The previous week, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright recorded nominal jump by CNY 700 per MT. The commodity price ended the week at CNY 73,450 per MT. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing witnessed an increase of 1.01% from the week before. Additionally, the Index's #2 Copper Wire and Tubing price was up by 1.03% week-on-week, with prices rising from CNY 68,050 per MT to CNY 68,750 per MT.

Europe

The weekly price of #1 Copper Bare Bright stayed at $6,000 per tonne from the previous week. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing remained at $5,200 per tonne on the Index, unchanged from the previous week. Additionally, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index remained unchanged during the week ending November 21, 2024.

 

Brass Scrap Prices

The prices for brass scrap increased by 0.45% from the previous week.

North America

By the conclusion of the week, the price of a pound of Red Brass had increased from $2.33 to $2.34. On the Index, Yellow Brass was also up. The product's price went higher by 0.46%, from $2.18 to $2.19 per pound.

The price of Red Brass inched higher by 0.43% from the previous week. Yellow Brass was also slightly more expensive per pound by the end of the week, rising from $2.18 to $2.19.

USA Midwest

The price of Red Brass increased marginally from $2.31 to $2.32 per pound, or 0.43% higher than the week before. On Index, Yellow Brass was also up. The commodity's price was up by 0.46%.

USA West Coast

As of Thursday, November 21, 2024, Red Brass was trading at $2.38 a pound, 0.42% more than the price the week before. Furthermore, Yellow Brass's price per pound increased by 0.45% during the previous week.

China

During the week ended November 21, 2024, the price of Red Brass and Yellow Brass recorded increase. According to the Index, Red Brass's price ended the week at CNY 37,900, up by CNY 100 per MT. Additionally, the price of Yellow Brass registered increase by 0.29% to close at CNY 35,050 per MT on the Index.

 

Aluminum Scrap Prices

The Index's aluminum scrap prices recorded decline by 1.36% over the previous week.

North America

Over the preceding week, E.C. Aluminum Wire's price declined by 1.68%. During the week ending November 21, 2024, the price of 6063 Extrusions was $0.88 per Lb, down by $0.01 per Lb from the previous week. On the Index, Old Cast prices recorded decline by 1.33% to end the week at $0.74 per pound. Additionally, UBC's pricing also recorded marginal decline by 1.32% from the week before.

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire dropped by 1.68% during the previous week. During the week ending November 21, 2024, the price of 6063 Extrusions were down by 1.12% from the previous week. The Index showed 1.33% week-on-week decline in Old Cast prices. Also, UBC's prices registered decline by 1.32% during the previous week.

USA Midwest

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire has declined by 1.68% since a week ago. Last week, the price of the commodity closed at $1.17 per pound, down $0.02 per pound. In the meantime, 6063 Extrusions' price recorded week-on-week decline by 1.15%. According to the ScrapMonster Index, there was marginal decline in the prices of UBC and Old Cast by 1.33% and 1.37% respectively.

USA West Coast

E.C. Aluminum Wire's price was down 1.68% from the previous week. The ScrapMonster Index showed that the price of 6063 Extrusions has declined by 1.12% from the week before. Over the course of the week, the Index's Old Cast prices recorded 1.32% decline. As of November 21, 2024, UBC's prices also fell from $0.77 per pound to $0.76 per pound.

China

At CNY 19,550 per MT, E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were unchanged on the Index. Furthermore, 6063 Extrusions' price held steady from the previous week to close at CNY 18,450 per MT. As of November 21, 2024, Old Cast's price recorded no variation on the Index. With a weekly closing price of CNY 12,500 per MT, UBC prices witnessed no change over the previous week’s price.

Europe

For the whole week, the price of Old Cast remained at $1,050 a tonne. Additionally, according to the ScrapMonster Index, UBC prices were unchanged from the previous week at $1,250 a tonne.

 

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap showed a weekly increase of 1.56%.

North America

A study of 304 SS Solid pricing pattern suggest that the commodity's price has somewhat increased from the previous week. Over the course of the week, the price per pound of the commodity was up by $0.01.

The price of 304 SS Solid increased by 1.56% over the previous week on November 21, 2024. The prices were up from $0.64 to $0.65 per pound during the week.

USA Midwest

304 SS Solid prices were up modestly by 1.56%, to end the week at $0.65 per Lb.

USA West Coast

For the week ending November 21, 2024, the price of 304 SS Solid went up by 1.56%, from $0.64 per pound the previous week to $0.65 per pound.

China

Over the course of the week, 304 SS Solid prices somewhat increased. The reported price of the commodity was up 1.23% last week, rising from CNY 12,150 per MT to CNY 12,300 per MT.

Europe

Over the week, there was no change in the price of 304 SS Solid from the previous week's price of $1,070 per ton.

 

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

The #1 HMS pricing did not change during the past week. The price of the commodity stayed at $315 per MT. At $380 per MT over the week, prices for shredded auto scrap also didn't change. Similarly, HMS 80/20 prices remained unchanged from the previous week at $260 per MT. Furthermore, #1 Busheling's pricing witnessed no change during the week.

During the week, the price of HMS 80/20 was also fixed at $260 per MT. #1 Busheling prices on the Index were also unchanged.

USA Midwest

Over the previous week, #1 HMS's prices remained unchanged. During the week, Shredded Auto Scrap was similarly flat. The HMS 80/20 pricing on the Index remained constant at $260 per MT. The week ending November 21, 2024, saw no change in the price of #1 Busheling.

USA West Coast

Over the previous week, there was no movement in #1 HMS prices. The commodity's price remained stable at $315 per MT. Additionally, rates for shredded auto scrap remained unchanged from $380 per MT during the week. HMS 80/20 prices remained stable at $260 per MT, as they had the week before. Additionally, the price of #1 Busheling remained constant at $390 per MT throughout the week.

China

Over the previous week, there was no movement in #1 HMS prices. At CNY 1,630 per MT, the commodity's price remained stable.

Europe

The prices of #1 HMS recorded no variation in prices during the week, with prices holding steady at $170 per MT on the ScrapMonster Index. Shredded Auto Scrap witnessed no change from the prior week’s level of $130 per MT over the week.

 

Lead Scrap Prices

Prices for lead scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.

North America

Examining the pricing charts for scrap auto batteries, it is revealed that there had been no change in the commodity's prices from the previous week. The price per pound stayed steady at $0.22 for the entire week.

China

The prices of scrap auto batteries did not change on the index during the previous week. At CNY 6,850 per MT, the commodity's price remained same as of Thursday, November 21, 2024.

Europe

Throughout the week, there was no change in the price of scrap auto batteries from the previous week's price of $820 per ton.

 

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded no change in prices week-on-week.

North America

The price of New Zinc Die Cast witnessed no change over the previous week, at $0.77 per pound. Week-on-week, Old Zinc Die Cast prices likewise held steady. As of Thursday, November 21, 2024, the closing price of the commodity was $0.65 a pound.
