Firefighters Battle Blaze At Middletown Scrap Yard

No injuries were reported in the blaze.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A fire broke out Thursday at a Middletown Township scrap processing center that has seen several blazes in the past.

At 5:20 p.m., firefighters were called to Langhorne Scrap Metal Processing on Big Oak Road between Woodbourne Road and Township Line Road for a reported blaze.

Frank Farry, the chief of the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company, said callers reported seeing a thick black column of smoke coming from the area.

Firefighters arrived to find fire around equipment at the center, Farry said.

The chief stated that crews went to work putting water on the flames and had the bulk of the fire out within 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported in the blaze.

The business has been the scene of many fires in recent years, including one that damaged the facility in August.

The Middletown Township Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the cause of the blaze.

In addition to the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company, the Falls Township, Fairless Hills, Levittown No. 2, Newtown, Parkland, Penndel, William Penn, and Yardley Makefield fire companies, as well as the Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Services, were called to the scene. The Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad also responded.
