Waste Pro Gives Back to Southeast Florida Community hit by Hurricane Milton
Waste Pro’s Fort Pierce Division quickly mobilized, organizing a donation drive and filling a Waste Pro pickup truck with supplies for the church.
SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): On October 8, 2024, Hurricane Milton cut a path of destruction through Florida from Sarasota to Palm Coast, affecting nearly every town and city in the state. As Milton crossed the state, roughly four dozen tornadoes spawned. That’s the most of any Florida tornado outbreak in modern records, some hitting Fort Pierce, causing widespread destruction. Two of the hardest-hit areas were Lakewood Park and Spanish Lakes. The Lakewood Park Church lost a significant portion of its roof, though miraculously, its stained-glass windows sustained only minor damage. Waste Pro’s Regional Office Manager, Linda Madernini, knew her community was in need of assistance and coordinated with the church to arrange debris pickup in response.
Waste Pro’s Fort Pierce Division quickly mobilized, organizing a donation drive and filling a Waste Pro pickup truck with supplies for the church. These supplies were delivered to the church which in turn, proudly provided meals to over 600 local people in the community.
During one of the drop-off of supplies to the church, the Waste Pro team encountered an elderly couple, both 80 years old, stranded with a flat tire. Operations Support Specialist Leroy Green didn’t hesitate. He stepped in, fixed the tire, and got the couple back on their way. These personal touches make the company’s community support so impactful. “This was truly a team effort,” shared Stacey Foster, Regional Human Resources Manager for Southeast Florida.
“Waste Pro is always looking at ways to give back, and knowing that we could provide resources, supplies and manpower, we were honored to help storm victims any way we could.” This is just another example of Waste Pro’s unwavering dedication to the community. It demonstrates the support that goes beyond trash collection, genuinely stepping up when people need it most.
